Island of Brac
Brac Island is the largest island in Dalmatia and the third largest in the Adriatic Sea. Bracs highest peak, Mount St. Vid stands at 778 meters, making the Island of Brac the highest island point in all Croatian islands. Accommodation on Brac island spans everything from villas, cheap Brac apartments and hostels to luxury and boutique Brac hotels. Brac apartments are well located with all the comfort and privacy you need in order to have a pleasant stay.
Brac Island is characterized by a karst limestone relief with a number of cavities, coves, gullies, crevices and round valleys, but most coastal villages and higher parts of Brac Island are covered with Aleppo pine forests.
People in Brac live on various small towns, ranging from a population of 3,500 (in the main town Supetar) to only a dozen (in Novo Selo). The island of Brac mostly thrives due to tourism, but agriculture and fishing remain the steady source of revenue. Brac was historically famous for its goats, cheeses, olive oil, and wine as well as its unique white stone, which was used in building the White House in the US and Diocletians Palace in Split.
Fish canneries are located in Milna and Postira, while the major quarries where the white stone is excavated are found in Selca, Pucisca, Splitska, Postira and Do-nji Humac. Today, the Island of Brac preserves its pre-Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque-styled churches and other architectural buildings, while adding a number of tourist facilities, including hotels, luxury villas, holiday houses, campsites and Brac apartments.
Brac accommodation units are surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation which is offering special atmosphere for a pleasant stay during the whole year. Brac island leaves an effect of an untouched nature in which every hotel guest can find it's own peace. Online reservation for Brac hotels and apartments can be easily be done through our trusted Brac hotel providers.
