The Island of Cres is in the northern part of the Kvarner region. Losinj Island and Cres Island are separated by just a narrow canal, but they offer different attractions and atmospheres. Compared to Losinj Island, the 68 kilometer-long island of Cres has a much wider surface and high cliffs.
Cres Island is famous for several unexplained phenomenon, such as the extremely clean freshwater of the 5-sq.km lake Vran known for its unique hydrological and geological characteristics. The island of Cres is also the home of the white-headed vulture, which cannot be found anywhere else.
