Island of Ist
Ist Island is one of the smallest (9.65 sq. km) and least populated (with only a population of 250) in the Zadar archipelago. The Island of Ist has two ranges of hills, which are separated by a narrow valley. Ist Island mostly consists of limestone and dolomite with a mostly steep coast. Vineyards and olive groves surround the majestic hills of Ist Island. Woods fill the slopes of Straza, while the Kosiraca Cove on the northwestern coast can be used for docking.
Located north of Molat island and west of Skarda island, the Island of Ist is a popular paradise for lovers who are looking for a small island with unspoiled nature and plenty of sunshine. On the southwestern coast of Ist is the Siroka Cove and the village of Ist, where homemade wines, local cheese and fresh fish can be found. The Island of In addition to several coves and small reefs, Ist has a sandy beach with clear sea water, which is main the reason why divers and fishers cant get enough of the island. Other activities on the sandy beaches, sandbanks and bays of Ist Island include kayaking, beach volleyball, mountain biking, boating and sports fishing. Local inns are available on several areas, but cars are not allowed on Ist Island.
