Island of Korcula
Korcula Island is located in the Adriatic Sea. Known for being the birthplace of the distinguished writer and veteran traveler Marco Polo, the Island of Korcula boasts its greenery, dense wood, fantastic beaches and the production of exquisite wine from its numerous well-kept vineyards.
The Island of Korcula features centuries-old architecture, such as the Town Museum in Gabrielis Palace, Large Governors Tower and Small Governors Tower, St. Marcos Cathedral and several palaces, including the Ismaelis Palace, Arneri Palace and Bishops Palace. A popular festival in Korcura Island is the three-month-long festival season of Moreska. During the festival, which starts in June at the Old Town, locals celebrate their wine with song and dance.
Korcula Island has some of the best beaches in Croatia, which is the reason why hundreds of visitors flock to the island. Popular water activities include diving, kayaking, windsurfing and fishing. With pine, olive and fig trees surrounding the beaches, walking and hiking can also be a relaxing experience. For a fun night out and local cuisine, the villages and towns of Cara, Blato, Zrnovo, Lumbarda and Vela Luka are just a walk away.
The island of Korcula is just a quick ferry or bus ride from its neighbors Dubrovnik, Hvar and Mljet Split.
