The Island of Losinj is located at the west end of Kvarner Gulf. Losinj Island is one of the smaller islands in the archipelago with an area of only 75 sq. km and 8,000 inhabitants. Originally a part of Cres Island, the island of Losinj is now separated from Cres by a small passage and connected by a bridge in the town of Osor. Losinj Island is blessed with over 2,600 hours of sunshine each year, making it a favorite destination for Italian, German and Slovenian tourists in the summer season.
Considered the largest town in the Croatian Islands, the town of Mali Losinj is home to the 30-km-long Cikat Cove where water sports are held. Another prominent place in the Island of Losinj is the health resorts in Veli Losinj a small, seaside town characterized by its old stone houses, Venetian villas, hidden pine forests, vineyards, and its rich seafaring tradition. Also in Veli Losinj is the Veli Zal Beach in the Suncana Uvala cove, which is strategically 1-km away from he town center and 50 meters from Aurora Hotel.
Aside from beaches, visitors can experience a unique thrill when hiking to Televrina, the islands highest peak (588m) and witness panoramic views of Veli Losinj, Mali Losinj, Artatore, Cunski, Sveti Jakoy, Nerezine and Cres Island.
