Situated on a hill 222 meters above the sea level, the town of Buje dominates the surrounding green fields. The old part of the town kept its medieval urban structure with a square in the center, narrow streets and fortress. Buje is located in the area known for grape and olive growing. The resort and its surroundings are a special attraction due to its numerous wine cellars and bountiful gastronomic offerings - connected by so-called wine routes - and due to the hunting tourism and horseback riding. Every September there is a traditional festivity called "Grape Holiday". From fall until late spring, road cycling takes place, individual or in groups, especially on less busy second-class roads. There is quite a developed network of footpaths for hikes and field trips, 130 km in total. The longest footpaths are 30 - 40 km, but there is the possibility of choosing the shorter ones which are 4 - 5 km long.
