Preko, Croatia is the road and administration center of the island of Ugljan. It is located, as the name states, across from Zadar. It unites surrounding villages of Sutomiscica, Poljana and Osljak on an island by the same name. The most attractive beach for tourists is the one on the forested islet of Galovac, only 80 m from the center of Preko. The island is covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation, which shelters a valuable monastery of Franciscan friars of the third order dating back from the 15th century. Besides the beach on the island Galovac, a sandy beach "Jaz" is worth mentioning. It is proud of its blue flag - the symbol of clean sea. There is a number of entertainment events throughout the tourist season. The most famous one is a traditional feast called Preska legrica.
