Zirje, Croatia, the remotest island in sea surface of Sibenik, of area of 15.43 km2. It got its name by once thick forests of oak tree. Because of its position since long the island had outposts, and from its top during Croatian War of Independence Sibenik defended itself from enemy activities from the sea and air.
